Our Mission .. is to offer consumers the top twenty most searched for designer, fashion and lifestyle glasses brands, with the best available prescription lens technology, at a compelling price point through an informative and easy to use website.

Investment Opportunities.. are beginning to emerge. Metsuki is currently the fourth largest glasses website operator in the UK based on unique monthly traffic and probably the number one operator when measured in terms or average order value and gross margin. If you recognise the potential of the internet in the optical sector and can see a fit with your business now is the time to speak to us.

Market Overview.. 66% of the UK population wear glasses (on average 60% throughout Europe ). The UK optical market has an annual retail value of approximately £3.0 billion. The sector is characterised as mature with annual growth barely exceeding the rate of inflation. The marketplace is dominated by four high street multiples: Specsavers (36%), Boots/D&A (11%), Vision Express (8%) and Optical Express (5%) with small chains and independents steadily losing market share.

Internet sales of prescription eyewear began in 2005 following partial de-regulation by the General Optical Council. We estimate the market penetration of internet sales for 2008 to be less than 1% (less than £30 million per annum).

However internet sales growth is non-linear and we forecast that the market share for internet sales will be between 3-5% by 2015 as consumer awareness, trust and familiarity with the internet channel and competitive price proposition grows.
